Government has denied reports that it intends privatising the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
It follows claims by workers of the power distribution company suggesting that government has received some $500 million from an American company as part payment for the sale of the company.
Kojo Mensah Bonsu, the National Organiser of the senior staff association of ECG, told Starr News that they are privy to transaction documents that suggest the company could be handed over to the American investor.
But the Government has refuted that claims, describing them as inaccurate.
Sources within the Energy Ministry told Starr News on Monday that the Ministry would soon release a statement to clarify the state of affairs with ECG in light of the privatisation claims.
