Gov't is restoring hope for the people

..gov't was committed to the improvement of lives
Adukrom-Akuapem (E/R), Aug.15, GNA- The Minister for Trade, Industry and President's Special Initiative (PSI), Mr Alan Kyeremanteng had stated that the government had restored hope and dignity of Ghanaians to the rest of Africa.

He said successes chalked over the past three-and -half years indicated that the government was committed to the improvement of lives of Ghanaians.

Mr Kyeremanteng who was launching the Adukrom Strategic Development Programme (SDP) at Adukrom in the Eastern Region on Saturday, said in addition to the provision of social and economic infrastructure, measures had been taken to ensure that private enterprises and businesses also flourished within the context of the "Golden Age of Business".

He noted that the long-term development of the country could not be achieved without the physical development of communities and commended the chief of Adukrom for the initiative aimed at giving the community a facelift.

Mr Kyeremanteng announced that his ministry was pursuing a rural enterprises development programme, which would, within the next five years, establish at least three medium sized viable industries in every district to accelerate economic development of the rural communities. The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo, announced that HIPC funds would soon be distributed to all districts and assured the people that every district would get a substantial amount to take care of the basic needs in their communities.
He said developments were being spread to all parts of the country and stressed the need for all to help in the development of their communities irrespective of party affiliations, saying "after all, it is the human being who is important and not who receives the credit". The Okerehene Nana Otutu Kono II, called on citizens from the community to contribute towards the implementation of the programme since the government alone could not satisfy all their needs. He commended members of the team who had outlined a number of projects and how they would be tackled for their selfless commitment. He appealed to the Minister of Trade, Industry and the PSI, to consider the Okere constituency, in the establishment of the PSI on Cassava, saying there was enough land available for the take off of the project.
Chairman of the programme management team, Mr Andrews Akuoko who outlined the projects under the programme, mentioned agriculture, education, communication technology and other areas that would be improved for the economic improvement of the people in the area. GNA
