Sekondi Dec. 27, GNA- Government has released 200, 000 Ghana cedis for the first phase of the street naming project in the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolis in the Western Region.
Mr John Latse, Public Relations Officer of the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly, who announced this an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday at Sekondi, said 600, 000 Ghana cedis have been earmarked for the project.
He said the first phase of the project was targeted at naming 500 streets in the metropolis adding that about 1,000 street signs would be erected in the first phase. Mr Latse said the streets would be named after national heroes and those who contributed to development of the metropolis and region. He said assembly members have been asked to consult traditional authorities to enable them to submit names of persons for the naming of street.
