Gov’t to achieve universal access to electricity by 2020 - Dr. Amin Adam

Deputy Minister of Energy, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has revealed that government intends to achieve universal access to electricity by 2020.

According to him, plans are in the offing to increase electricity generation as well as hook most rural communities to the national grid before the stated period.

Dr. Amin Adam who also donated 500, streets lights to the newly elevated Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly in the Northern Region, observed that several measures have been put in place to ensure that this timeline is not missed before the end of the first term of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government

“The president has promised by the end of his first term he’s going achieve universal access to electricity and we are working towards achieving just that”, he reiterated.

Parliament of Ghana last year approved a $92million contract between Ghana government and the Chinese Company, Hunan Construction Engineering Group Limited is to facilitate the execution of the rural electrification projects in the Eastern, Volta and Northern regions.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister has promised the chiefs and residents of the newly elevated Sagnarigu Municipality of his steadfast and dedicated commitment to the development of the area.

To this end, he invited Non-Governmental Organizations, development partners and corporate organizations all over the country and even outside the country to come to Sagnarigu and invest in order to reap the needed returns of their investments.

“We assure them of not just good hospitality but good returns on their investments”, he urged.
