The Government will have to raise an additional ?500m to complete works on the National Science and Technology Museum building started in 1970.
The original estimate for the project was less than ?1m and was expected to be completed in four years (1974), an official of the museum told B&FT.
He said the building, which is partially completed, has been taken over by squatters numbering over 50 and all attempts evicting them have failed.
The Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Dominic Fobih, and the Chairman of the National Commission for Culture, Prof. George Hagan, visited the museum and promised to raise funds to complete the building but response is yet to come.
Currently, the museum is under the auspices of the National Commission on Culture, which is cash strapped.
