The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has acknowledged that the Pwalugu Dam project, an initiative aimed at improving infrastructure in Ghana, has faced significant challenges.

In an interview on State of Affairs with Lantam Papanko on GHOne TV, Lantam Papanko gave an overview of the NPP’s manifesto and admitted that the project had not been fully actualized due to limited government funding.

“We have learned lessons from the difficulties in executing the Pwalugu Dam project, and we want to do it through a different route. We are looking at bringing in private funding to complete the project,” he stated.

Oppong Nkrumah explained that the government had initially committed to funding the project but faced challenges in securing the necessary funds. “Government funding has been limited, and we had to talk to our old debtors and ask for a cut down on it,” Oppong Nkrumah said.

Despite the challenges, Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that the government remains committed to completing the project.

“We are not saying that the vision is being completed or is no longer important. We are saying that there have been difficulties in executing that one, and we have learned lessons from it,” Oppong Nkrumah said.
