Ho, Nov. 17, GNA - The Government has said it would not tolerate any official whose actions or inactions tended to undermine the successful implementation of the School Feeding Programme.
Colonel Cyril Necku (Rtd), Deputy Volta Regional Minister, gave the caution in his keynote address at a sensitization and orientation workshop for stakeholders of the programme in the Volta Region in Ho on Tuesday. The participants included personnel of the District and Municipal Assemblies, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ghana Health Service and Ghana Education Service.
Topics discussed were; "the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) Social Accountability Project, Financial Management for GSFP and What You Need to Know about the GSFP."
Col. Necku said the importance the government attached to the programme arose out of its commitment to realizing the core objectives of the programme in order to have a positive story to tell in 2012.
"You need to work diligently with accountability to ensure the success of the Programme," he said.
Mr Francis Yaw Gyarko, Deputy National Co-ordinator of the GSFP, said a number of remedial measures requested by the Dutch Government as condition for restoring its financial support to the programme had been met.
"Our stakeholders have made it clear to us that despite the successes chalked, we could still improve upon the way we do things.
"The focus now should be finding a sustainable way in its implementation," he said.
