Government delegation visits Lincoln Community School

Accra, Nov. 23, GNA - A government delegation on Monday made on-the-spot visit to the Lincoln Community School at Abelenkpe in Accra, which had recorded cases of the Pandemic Influenza H1NI. The delegation, which was led by Reverend Dr Nii Amo Darko, a member of the Council of State was to find out the situation in the school following reports of 16 confirmed cases of the pandemic.

A statement issued in Accra by the National Disaster management Organisation (NADMO) said other members of the delegation were; Dr Kwasi Appiah-Kubi, Deputy Minister of the Interior, Mr Kofi Portuphy, National Co-ordinator of NADMO, Dr Joseph Amankwaa, Director of Public Health, Ministry of Health and Mrs Helen Mensah Co-ordinator of School Health Programme and Mr K.K. Kamaludeen, UNDP Country Director. The Ghana Health Service has confirmed 40 cases of H1N1 Influenza in the country but no deaths recorded so far.

In a statement it said out of the school population of about 700 the 16 reported confirmed cases represented about two per cent. "All the necessary measures have been taken to break the cycle of transmission with the school. This include the suspension of school activities for 10 days, "it added. 23 Nov. 09
