Government giving equal attention to all

Asuom (E/R), Dec. 5, GNA - The Member of Parliament for the Kade, Mr Ofosu Asamoah has said the Government's programme to raise one secondary school in each district into a first-class institution, comparable to any in the country would help raise the standard of education.

He said the people of Asuom should, therefore, count themselves lucky to have the Asuom Secondary School as one of the beneficiaries of the scheme, on which 16 billion cedis would be spent.

Speaking at a political rally at Asuom, near Kade, on Saturday, Mr Asamoah said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government was for the total development of the country and had shown that it did not discriminate against any area since the national cake was shared equally.

The MP said the Government was implementing its policy of improving roads linking two districts in the area for which the Asuom - Kwabeng; Kade - Oda and Subi-New Abirem roads were receiving attention. He praised the people of Asuom for their consistent support for the NPP and expressed the hope that they would vote massively for President J. A. Kufuor, and him.

Mr Asamoah warned against voting "skirt and blouse" since President Kufuor needed solid support in Parliament to ensure a successful second term of office.

Mr Twumasi Ankrah, a retired Director of Education in the Kwaebibirem District, reminded the people of the improvement in education by the NPP Administration, noting that, no school child in the District carried table and chair to school, as was the case in the past, since the Government had made adequate provision for it.

Schools blocks were also being built everywhere to create conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning, he said.

Mr B. B. Asiedu-Amponsah, who was a contestant at the recent Kade Constituency NPP primary, called on the people to vote not only for President Kufuor but also for Mr Asamoah.

He said the NPP Government had ensured that there was peace and security in Ghana that had enabled all to go about their businesses without any hindrance.

It was, therefore, necessary for Ghanaians to cherish the freedom that they enjoyed by returning the NPP to power, Mr Asiedu-Amponsah said.
