Government is likely to communicate its plans on the operationalization of the University of Ghana Medical Centre by tomorrow, Wednesday, July 11,2017, Kasapafmonline.com can confirm.

The facility which has been embroiled in controversy due to the delay in opening will be operational this month.

There are reports that government has totally taken over management of the facility, even before the opening of the hospital.

Meanwhile, tomorrow’s Press conference is expected to highlight details on how the UG Medical Centre will be operationalized after take of.

Two years after the $217 million University of Ghana Medical Centre was commissioned by former President John Mahama, the facility remains shut.

Management of the facility has long been a serious bone of contention between the University of Ghana and current Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, a reason why the facility remains shut.

The multi-million dollar facility, which is an extension of tertiary care in reference to advanced levels of medicine, can rival any world-class hospital.

It has about eight huge blocks, which house an emergency centre, an outpatient and administration block, women and children’s centre, a medical training and simulation centre, among others.
