Somanya (E/R), Aug. 30, GNA - The government is serious and committed to serve the entire nation, President John Agyekum Kufour said at Somanya in the Eastern Region, on Sunday.

"What we ask from Ghanaians is their total support to return the NPP administration to power", he added.

He assured the people that the government would excel in the governance of the country, adding, "The government has discharged its undertaking to the nation creditably, which is being acknowledged by Ghanaians."

President Kufour assured Ghanaians that the best for the country's development was yet to come when the government's mandate to rule was renewed during the 2004 elections.

He said, "God willing, when you renew our mandate, you will see that the work done so far will be the foundation to stabilize the situation for a take off on accelerated development, the best is yet to be come."

President Kufour said the government had been very fair and evenhanded in the provision of development projects throughout the country, adding, "We are not just a promising government, what we promise we deliver."

He said the government was not vindictive and would not use the power given to it to put the people down but to enrich and give quality life to the people.

Kpetekple Nene Narh Dawutey Ologo IV, Konor of Yilo Krobo, expressed appreciation to the government for the numerous development projects in the district since 2001 saying, "this is a testimony to your determination to bring improvement to the living standards of the people."

He welcomed the citing of a cassava starch processing company and a mango-processing factory in the area, which he noted, would help provide employment for the youth and check the rural urban drift from the area. Nene Ologo called for more financial assistance to the traditional council for its activities.

Kpetekple Ologo expressed concern about the upsurge of grave looting in the area and called for more policemen to help curb the menace, adding that, the traditional council would provide land for a barracks.
