Government releases GHC930m to clear part of NHIS arrears – Planning Minister

The Minister of Planning says government has released money to clear some outstanding debt of the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Speaking on behalf of the minister at the launch of the 2019 West Africa International Summit held at Accra Digital Center, Magdalene Apenteng, Ag Chief Director of the Ministry for Planning said: “In Ghana, the government’s commitment to good health care delivery is on course, as it has released some GHC930 million to clear part of the National Health Insurance Scheme arrears.”

The summit hopes to present a platform for hospital leaders, policy makers and health professionals across borders to meet and share practical experiences and current best practices in the healthcare.

It will also afford leaders and decision makers the opportunity to interact with manufacturers and suppliers on the latest healthcare technologies, products, equipment and services.

The event was graced by His Excellency Edward Boateng, Ghana's Ambassador to China; Prof. Ahmed Nuhu Zakaria, Chief Executive of National Ambulance Service; Kwaku Asenso Brobbey, Head of Communication for Mental Health Authority and many other notable persons.
