Government's performance to confound skeptics

Taviefe, (V/R), Nov. 10, GNA-The achievements of President John Evans Atta Mills' administration would confound skeptics who perceive his pace at tackling national issues as sluggish "Professor Mills is meticulous and a man of wisdom." Colonel Cyril Necku, (retired) Deputy Volta Regional Minister, said.

Col. Necku was addressing the centenary celebration church service of the E.P. Church at Taviefe near Ho last Sunday. The theme for the celebration was: "The Lord has done great things for us and we are very glad."

"Some say he is too godly, if our leader is godly then God's blessing is upon our nation just as God's blessing was upon nations whose leaders feared him," he said.

Col. Necku urged Christians and Muslims to pray for the President and the government for divine wisdom and guidance.

"If Ghana will be good, it would be from the Churches and the Mosques," where he said their leaders interact with their congregations more frequently than politicians do.

He said Ghana would have no problems if Christians who formed about 60 percent of the population would defend and uphold the laws and values of the country and apply their individual talents constructively. Preaching the sermon, Right Reverend Francis Amenu, Moderator of the General Assembly of the E.P. Church, said God would bless the land if only the citizenry would have faith in God, be humble and apply their talents accordingly. Highlights of the celebration included the dedication of a new chapel started 28 years ago and the launch of a historical account of 100 years of Evangelization at Taviefe. 10 Nov. 09
