Government secures funds for Wa Regional Hospital-Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama on Friday announced that government had approved funding from the Barclays Bank to finance the construction of the Wa Regional Hospital.

“Within the next few weeks, all the necessary documentation would be done to allow work on the Wa Regional Hospital to start as soon as possible.”

President Mahama announced this when members of the Upper West Region House of Chiefs called on him at the Castle, Osu, to console him on the death of President John Evans Atta Mills and to congratulate him for assumption of office.

The chiefs led by Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister, included Naa Seidu Braimah, Member of Council of State, Naa Puore Puobi Chiir the VI, Paramount Chief of Nandom Traditional Area and Kouro Buktie Liman, Paramount Chief of Gwollu Traditional Area.

President Mahama said the hospital was so dear to the heart of late President Mills, who would have wished to witness the commencement of work but unfortunately died a few days after the approval of the funds.

“After the previous arrangements had failed, late President Mills persisted to acquire funding for the project and this is how far we have reached and very soon the project will be executed,” he added.

He said apart from the hospital, all other projects initiated by the late President Mills would be completed on schedule.

Naa Sohiminye Danah GoreII, President of the Upper West Region House of Chiefs, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, commended government for the numerous development projects they had witnessed in the Region and pledged their support to President Mahama to provide more in future.**
