The government would soon rehabilitate roads in the Suhum Municipality as plans far advanced to that effect.

The promise was made by the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Eric Kwakye Darfour at the grand durbar of chiefs and people of Suhum to mark the celebration of this year’s Suhum Odwira festival and the 20th anniversary of enstoolment of Osabarimah Ayeh Kofi as the chief of Suhum in the Eastern Region.

The Regional Minister said the provision of good quality roads to the people was of much concern to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He said the various interventions made by the government such as Free Senior High School, Planting for Food and Jobs, and Planting for Export and Rural Development were aimed at raising the standard of living and the economic wellbeing of the people.

Mr Darfour said for the first time in the country, government scholarships were awarded at the district levels and many students need not go to Accra to apply.

Earlier in a welcome address, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi called on the people of Suhum to unite and support the development of the municipality.

He appealed to the government to rehabilitate roads in the municipality.

Osabarima Ayeh Kofi appealed for the provision of extra infrastructure for all the three Senior High Schools in the municipality.

He said as a result of a shortage of accommodation some students have to reside in hostels outside their school compounds which is not helpful to their education and training.
