Dawurampong (C/R), Feb 21, GNA - The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Gomoa Senior Technical School at Gomoa Dawurampong, has appealed to the government to fulfil its promise to make the school a model institution.
Mr R.O. Duodu, Chairman of the PTA, who made the appeal at a meeting at Dawurampong on Tuesday, said the government made the promise four years ago.
Mr Duodu said the school, which was established in 1990 as a Secondary/Technical School to meet the increasing demands for Secondary and Technical education in the District had been without the requisite facilities to meet the dreams of the founders. "Do we have to blame the students when they fail examination in science?" the PTA Chairman asked. Mr Duodu said classroom and residential accommodation for over 800 student population was nothing to write home about. He commended the Headmaster and staff for working under difficult conditions.
For instance, Mr Duodu said the new Headmaster decided to pack an over-used Nissan Pick-Up, the only vehicle for the school and use money for its repair to buy chemicals for science practicals. Mr Duodu said the PTA had put up a computer laboratory at GH¢12,000 for the School to bolster its ICT course. Mr Anthony Jacklingo Quansah, Headmaster, appealed for support from parents. He said he was tackling indiscipline in the school and urged parents to advise their children and wards to change their bad ways. 21 Feb. 08
