Suhum (E/R), Aug, 9, GNA - Mr Samuel Fleischer-Kwabi, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar has assured that government would assist in providing the necessary development programmes in the communities, under the Better Ghana Agenda.
He said the best that the government could do to improve on the lives of the people, was to provide the necessary infrastructure and facilities and also encourage the people, especially the youth, to enter into productive ventures.
Mr Fleischer-Kwabi was speaking at the Opening ceremony of this year’s Youth Voluntary Work Camp, organized by the National Youth Authority (NYA) at Adarkwa, near Suhum.
The youth volunteers’ camping is organized to enable the volunteers to contribute towards the development of communities where the camp would be held.
This year’s camp was to help build a Kindergarten block for the Adarkwa community.
Mr Fleischer-Kwabi lauded the NYA and the youth volunteers for the initiative, saying that, even though the assembly was providing building materials for the project, it would save the assembly the cost of labour, which could be used for other developmental projects.
Mr Fleischer-Kwabi called on community members to support the volunteers in diverse ways to make the projects a success.
Mr Paapa Adjei-Kyeremeh, the Eastern Regional Director for the NYA, called on government and community leaders to pay much attention to the youth of the nation since “they are the pivot of national development.”
Nana Kwaku Adjei, the Chief of the area, called on the youth to emulate what the volunteers were doing, adding that, they should eschew apathy and laziness and work hard towards the development of the area.
The youth volunteers have been camping at Adarkwa since July 29, to serve the community.
They are made up of students, traders and skilled persons such as carpenters, masons, electricians and other professionals.
