The New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for the Tamale North constituency for election 2012, Mr. Akilu Sayibu has called on the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to as a matter of extreme urgency renovate the Tamale office of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to save the lives of the officers working there.
In a statement issued to the media in Tamale Mr. Akilu Sayibu said a visit he made to the Tamale CID office shows that the officers there are working under very deplorable state with very outmoded office equipment to grapple with and morale among the staff seemingly very low.
“The furniture at the place does not befit the status of a CID office, the ceiling fans in the office are visibly dirty and hanging dangerously over the heads of officers and the only equipment for typing is an old typewriter comparable to a 14th century relic”
The Tamale North parliamentary candidate disclosed that, there was no reliable facility for the storage of data and files could be seen packed in corners and on tables freely.
The situation at that Tamale CID office is that of a distress one and there was the urgent thing for the government to award the place for immediate renovation to facilitate smooth and efficient investigations.
The statement also called on all those who believe in the smooth dispensation of justice and respect for human rights of suspects to join him to exert pressure on government to provide the right environment and equipment for the Tamale CID to achieve that objective.
