Govt Officials Living Without Pay?

...How Do They Do It?

Most government appointees have reportedly not been paid since January this year when President Kufuor and his government assumed office for the second term.

District Chief Executives as of now are yet to receive their pay since January although a few of them got their appointments approved a little over a month ago, others a few weeks back.

This situation has put some of the DCEs into difficult conditions, some of whom are struggling to pay their wards school fees and keep the house running.

Finance and economic planning minister, Kwadwo Baah Wiredu today told PeaceFM that his outfit has not been informed of the unpaid salaries of DCEs. He said however that he would hold a meeting with those directly involved and see how best to resolve this.

When the Government's Spokesperson on Finance and Economy, Nana Ohene Ntow was asked if he has been paid, he reluctantly responded in the negative.
He said it was after he took the trouble to check why the delay that he was assured that his pay will soon be ready
