Asankragwa (W/R), Nov 2, GNA- Mr Alberto Takyi, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wasa Amenfi West has said the government is spending more than 152 billion cedis on the construction of the Asankragwa-Enchi road in the Western Region.
He was addressing a grand durbar held in his honour by the chiefs and people of Wasa Dunkwa to unite the people for an accelerated development of the area.
The DCE announced that the on-going rehabilitation work on the Wasa Dunkwa-Attaguaye road would also cost the government 3.5 billion cedis. Mr. Takyi commended the chiefs and people for honouring him and advised them to unite and support government's programmes and policies. He said under the Under Trees Project, a six-classroom block would be constructed for the Methodist Primary School at Asankragwa, which was destroyed in a recent rainstorm.
Mr. Takyi advised the people to live peacefully with the workers of Top International Engineers, contractors working on the Asankragwa-Enchi road.
Mr. Emmanuel Yeboah, District Feeder Roads Engineer, assured the people that many roads in the district were slated for reshaping and advised Assembly Members and other opinion leaders to report any deterioration on the feeder roads to the Assembly. Nana Kweku Ahimah III, Chief of Wasa Dunkwa, thanked the DCE for his interest in the development of the area and that the tarring of the Asankragwa-Enchi road would boost commerce.
