Graduates develop software to ease health care delivery

Accra, Dec. 15, GNA - A team of young Ghanaian graduates have developed a software package - Care - as an integrated hospital software that would fully automate all networks from the doctors consulting room to the laboratory through to the pharmacy, Mr Prince Derick Adjei, a youth affairs consultant, said on Thursday. At a press briefing organised by a Coalition of Youth Organisations and Prominent Youth Personalities in Accra, Mr Adjei said the software would reduce stress levels, increase efficiency and bring about happiness to the health care delivery system from students through interns to professionals. He said the software was developed to make the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme easy in the hospitals and clinics.

"We wish to challenge Ghanaians to trust the youth with the resources to deliver and propose the establishment of an Ideas Bank, an incubator where young people or businesses could go with the ideas which would be turned into projects on a Build, Operate and Transfer basis." This would lead to the formation of consortiums or companies and job creation with employment for the youth by the youth. Mr Adjei said there should be a clear national youth policy that would fit into the overall national vision and plan with measurable socio-economic indices and yearly target denominated in percentages. He noted that this would drive elections to be on the basis of issues and track record and not blind partnership and money. Mr Adjei said the youth by consensus agreed that it was not enough to criticise but move towards a new paradigm of offering solutions to pressing needs and thereby showing the way to the future through their examples.

"The new paradigm says; 'change your thinking, your choices and your life so that together we can change our future and our world into a better one'." He intimated that a pro-Ghanaian Website www.worldcup2006.com.gh would be uploaded on Christmas Day and launched on the eve of New Year to focus on all news and activities associated with the event from a Ghanaian perspective. This multimedia platform would be complemented by a series of interactive competitions aimed at keeping the euphoria alive through the introduction of an innovative postal product.
