The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday, June 21, 2019 inaugurated various committees expected to work towards achieving victory for the party in the 2020 General elections.
The committees, which consist of Council of Elders, Legal Committee, Greater Accra Election Committee, Communication Committee, Political Committee among others will be working hand in hand to strategize and formulate policies that will help the NDC oust the ruling NPP during next year’s elections.
During the inauguration ceremony, Former Health Minister, Sherry Ayitey called on committee members to work as a team to promote the social values of the party, as well as the party’s agenda for the general elections.
She said, “It is very important that as the committees are inaugurated, there will be cooperation among the members of the committee because, for a political party to move forward, there must be teamwork. One person cannot do the work of ten men, allow everyone to be part of the work that needs to be done. We have to be together as a team and when we are together as a team, we move forward. We think and share our visions and aspirations that will help us promote the social values of our party”.
She further stated that, the success of the party will depend on how the various committees will play their role towards achieving victory come 2020.
Speaking in the same vein, National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo encouraged the committee members to be united and refrain from any act that will tear the party apart.
He also called on them to have interactions with the people at the grassroots, sell out their message and equally listen to their concerns.
"I have indicated that in the manifesto that we are going to put up, that manifesto must be a bottom-up approach. We don’t want people to sit at the centre and decide on what should be done at the constituency, district and the regions. Our teams will do consultations with you at the constituency, regional levels and do national validation to ensure that our constitution will be a living constitution that reflects the wishes and aspirations of the Ghanaian people”, he stated.
He therefore called on the Council of Elders to assist the Regional secretariats to solve minor issues in the party so that, the party can stand tall and fine tune their mind to victory.
