A Former President and Founder of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections.
He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed.
According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.
He however, urged them to live in unity although the party is in opposition.
According to him, unity comes at a price, which includes truthfulness, integrity and sincerity, therefore, they should do away with the propaganda way of doing politics as they face opposition.
Former President Rawlings said this at the 25th Anniversary Rally of the NDC at Ashaiman.
The anniversary which is, under the theme: Mirroring the past into the future,” brought together both former Presidents of the NDC, former ministers of states, party executive and supporters.
Former President Rawlings reiterated the need for Ghanaians to be patriotic, responsible and devote their time to the socio-economic development of the country.
Former President, John Dramani Mahama called on party supporters not to apportion blames of the parties defeat in the 2016 election to him, saying the blame games will not help at the time when they want power back.
He said Ghana's development was achieved during his tenure. of the NDC government.
The Minority Leader of Parliament Haruna Iddrisu said although the NDC parliamentarians are few, they will make sure accountability is achieved.
