NDC’s Koku Anyidoho has sought to disagree with the party’s founder, John Jerry Rawlings that - greed and corruption caused the NDC’s humiliating defeat in the 2016 December elections.

The former president noted that greed and corruption of today is nothing compared to what existed before he toppled the military regime on June 4, 1979.

“Generals were executed . . . because of corruption, the greed, corruption and injustice of today, believe it or not is a thousand times more than what these Generals were executed for,” the former military ruler said Sunday during the 38th anniversary of June 4 uprising in the Upper West region.

According to him, most government appointees in the previous administration led by John Dramani Mahama were corrupt.

He explained that, some of the Mahama appointees amassed so much wealth and used the money as a political weapon to become kingmakers.

He said the previous administration “squandered many opportunities to clean up and to restore the June 4 principles in the party”

“Ladies and Gentlemen, nobody is saying don’t make money but make it good and clean but not some of the ones that I know, sickening, the kind of greed, selfishness, look at where it landed us.” He added

Reacting to the claims on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed Ghana Montie, Koku noted that the allegations made by the party’s founder cannot be wholly true.

According to him – “The critical lessons of June 4, is the atrocities that is happening now in the country. The NDC is already in opposition. As to the factors that took us to opposition, Dr.Kwesi Botchwey report will tell us. If our founder is calling for restructuring, why not, we will work on that”.
