The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has disclosed that over 30 million of the 41 million trees planted since the inception of Green Ghana Day in 2021 have survived. This survival rate accounts for over 73% of the total trees planted since the initiative's launch.

During a press briefing to announce the 2024 edition of the exercise, the minister stated that the government has demonstrated significant commitment to ensuring the survival of these trees, which helps fulfill their intended purpose.

The Minister announced that the 4th Edition of Green Ghana Day is scheduled for Friday, June 7, 2024, with an expectation to plant a total of 10 million trees across the country.

In an effort to combat deforestation and promote environmental sustainability, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources inaugurated National Green Ghana Day in 2021 and has since planted 41 million trees nationwide.

The Minister, who also serves as the MP for Damongo Constituency, noted that this initiative would aid in replenishing the nation's depleted forest reserves and protecting the environment.

Mr. Abu Jinapor took the opportunity to commend President Akufo-Addo for this initiative, stating that it has contributed significantly to the fight against climate change.

Abu Jinapor revealed that the government has allocated approximately 1.5 million Ghana Cedis for the 2024 Green Ghana Day project.

He appealed to Ghanaians to monitor and nurture the trees planted during Green Ghana Day to ensure their maximum survival rate.
