Gregory Afoko lied to Police about his location on that day - 5th Witness

Gregory Afoko Gregory Afoko

Fifth prosecution witness (Dominic Apaaya Baba) in the ongoing trial of Gregory Afoko, one of two accused persons charged with the murder of the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Upper East Regional Chairman Adams Mahama, today told the Criminal Court that the accused person lied to the Police when he wrote in his statement that he was asleep in his home when the acid attack happened on May 15, 2015.

In his evidence before the court, Dominic Apaaya Baba, an NPP Polling station Secretary at Zorbisi electoral area in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region told the court that on the faithful day, he and the two accused persons were at a local drinking spot till about 10pm in the evening.

Mr. Gregory Afoko and the second accused who is at large left the drinking spot together on a motorcycle. Thus, his representation that he was asleep that particular night cannot be accurate.

The witness is currently being cross-examined by the defense lawyer, Safo Boahen.

The case has just been adjourned to tomorrow January 25, 2018 for further cross examination of the fifth prosecution witness.
