The East Dadekotopon Development Trust (EDDT) has accused ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, of hiring land guards to harass and intimidate grantees of land under its management.

The EDDT said it has a court judgment and has been given trust over parcels of land behind the Trade Fair Center at La in Accra, and have land title certificate No. GA 19310 to that effect.

However, EDDT said a gentleman called Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsru III and some of his cronies from the La Traditional Council have engaged in illegal and fraudulent sale of the lands under the management of EDDT without proper and genuine documents covering them.

EDDT, in a statement, said, realising the danger in acquiring the land; some buyers are claiming their monies in return of the land they have purchased.

The statement further said Anas is brandishing a High Court judgment granted by Justice Ofori Atta, but that judgment was quashed by the Appeal Court on 1 March 2011. Anas, according to EDDT, is using that judgment which has been rendered ineffective, to defraud unsuspecting members of the public through the sale of lands under its management, which in their view, amounts to contempt of court.

EDDT said: “The activities of Anas Arimeyaw Anas in bringing land guards to harass and intimidate peace-loving grantees of land under the management of EDDT are gradually posing a serious threat to human life and property.”

The Trust has therefore called on relevant state authorities and security agencies to intervene and bring “perpetrators to book”.

Meanwhile, lawyer for Anas, Mr Kwame Gyan, speaking to Class News’ Mercy Obeng Akrofi, asked the aggrieved party to go to court if they have any concerns, rather than to resort to a press conference.

He disclosed that it was aggrieved individuals who have sued his client on the matter and not the Trust, and therefore if the Trust has any issues with his client, it can equally take the matter up for redress at the Appeal Court.
