Hammond to contest Asante Akim Central NPP seat

Mr Isaac Kwasi Hammond, a management consultant has picked his nomination forms to contest the up-coming parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asante Akim Central Constituency.

The 55 year-old aspirant is making a second bid to become the Member of Parliament (MP), having contested the 2008 primaries against the incumbent, Mr Anyimadu Antwi.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after picking his forms, Mr Hammond, who is also a businessman, said he was sure of victory this time, because of the wider consultation he has made among the delegates.

Outlining his vision, his said as a unifier, he would deal with factionalism at the constituency level and bring all together on board as this would help set the stage for him to pursue a fast-paced development agenda in the constituency.

With his vast acquaintance with captains of industry, ministers, chiefs and other influential personalities in society, Mr. Hammond believes he is the best choice to mobilize resources to facilitate speedy development of the constituency.

He implored the delegates to give him the nod to offer him the opportunity to serve the people, vowing never to seek re-election if he does not perform well.

Mr. George Kyei Barffour, Constituency Secretary of the party counselled the aspirant to embark on a clean campaign if cleared by the vetting committee.

He said it was expected of all aspirants to be civil in their campaigns, stressing the need to control their followers in the interest of party unity.

He assured that whoever emerges as the winner would receive the full support of the constituency executives to ensure victory in 2016.
