Happy Kids School donates blood

As part of their 20th Anniversary celebrations, Happy Kids School in the Greater Accra Region, over the weekend organized a Blood Donation exercise.

The exercise, which started at 10am, attracted huge array of donors including Staff and parents of the Children. Fun games were also organized as part of the exercise.

About four hundred (400) kids engaged themselves in activities such as lime and spoon, playing cards, table tennis, sack race, ludo, musical chairs, football matches, tug of peace, draughts, board games, volleyball, etc.

According to the school authorities, they were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response of the public towards the exercise. Several people from all walks of life thronged the venue of the programme very early in the morning to donate blood while on their way to work or to school. Others also stayed behind as volunteers to assist the medical team with their work.

The donors were initially taken through some routine medical checks before they were allowed to donate. Those with ailments were diagnosed while those with clean bills of health were given the green light to donate accordingly.

The Chief Executive Officer of Happy Kids School, Ms Jemima Nartey, revealed there was no better way for the school to show its love for Ghanaians than to share the blood of their Staff with Ghanaians.

"We ensure that all children who pass through Happy Kids School are diligent, assertive, creative productive and achieve total academic excellence. Above all, must be nurtured morally to be God fearing."

She was happy that the school had moved from a humble beginning to its current stage where it rubbed shoulders with some of the big schools in Accra.

"I can without a doubt say Happy Kids School is one of the best in the country,” she said.

Happy Kids School story dates back to the year 1993, month of January precisely, when the school started with the only boy called George Entsuah Sekyi.

The first classroom was a balcony on the 1st floor of a two story building.

20years now, Happy Kids School can boast of alumni at the KNUST, University of Ghana and University of Cape Coast including other polytechnic and private tertiary institutions.
