'Have confidence in women and vote for them'

An aspiring assembly woman for the Akosombo Community One Electoral Area in the Asuogyaman District, Mrs Ama Worlako Konkey, has called on women to have confidence in women and vote massively for those contesting in the upcoming district and unit committee elections.

She said women would champion the cause of women and girls better than men and therefore appealed to the electorate to vote for her to ensure that she advocates for measures that would help eliminate challenges confronting women in the area.

Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) under the ‘Women’s Profile’ aimed at projecting women contesting in the district assembly election, in projecting women in politics, Mrs Ama Worlako mentioned teenage pregnancy, girl school dropout and education as the area she would champion when given the nod.

The Aspirant pointed that collaboration with parents and teachers was a tool she had identified to help reduce the incidences of teenage pregnancy and the low retention among girls and therefore called for support from all voters in the area to help her win.

Mrs Konkey, who is a teacher noted that as a female teacher, she has always been interested in girls education and empowerment in general and hoped that, her entry to the assembly would facilitate that interest to be able to reach out to many especially girls in the area.

Mrs. Konkey said she believes in sacrificial jobs and helping people in need so she was going to work with the members of the community to develop the area when elected and called on women to go out massively and vote for her.
