He didn’t lobby me – Kufuor explains support for Bawumia

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has passionately called on Ghanaians to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming December elections, emphasizing his belief in Bawumia’s capability to steer the nation towards prosperity.

Speaking during a live broadcast alongside journalists from key media outlets, Kufuor addressed a question from Kwame Adinkra of Pure FM about why he believed Bawumia was the right choice for Ghana’s next president.

In a calm yet resolute tone, the elder statesman outlined his reasons, highlighting Bawumia’s stellar performance as an economist before taking up the role of Vice President under Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration.

“Dr. Bawumia’s understanding of economics and his innovative policies have made him stand out. His leadership ideologies align with the aspirations of every Ghanaian. I firmly believe he has what it takes to elevate this country,” Kufuor stated.

Reflecting on his endorsement, the former president clarified that his support was neither solicited nor influenced by Bawumia himself.

“He hasn’t made me a spokesperson or lobbied me to speak for him. My advice is grounded in my own observations of the political landscape and my faith in his abilities,” Kufuor explained.

Kufuor also touched on the broader significance of voting in the upcoming elections, urging citizens to turn out in large numbers to ensure their voices are heard.
