Samuel Koku Anyidoho, a former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called out CNN international correspondent, Larry Madowo, over his comments on the recent anti-illegal mining demonstrations.
According to Anyidoho, the CNN reporter constantly portrays Africa in a negative light, ignoring the positive developments across the continent.
“He sees nothing good in Africa a and only painted negative images about this continent. He must wake up from his slavery mentality,” he stated.
Anyidoho advised Madowo to critically review a video he attached to his post before making comments he described as “jaundice comments.”
“Let CNN Madowo watch this before making his jaundiced comments about the arrest of the hoodlums,” he added.
The video showed a road blocked by protesters, denying people access to the 37 Military Hospital during a demonstration in the fight against illegal mining.
The protests, organised by the Democracy Hub, happened from September 21 to 23.
The CNN journalist, Larry Madowo made a post on X, stating that Ghanaian authorities have detained peaceful protesters opposing illegal mining activities.
“I’ll be watching Ghana’s president speak in New York this morning as police in Accra continue to detain peaceful protesters against illegal mining. People are rallying under #FreeTheCitizens after Ghanaian police violently broke up 3 days of #StopGalamseyNow protests,” he wrote.
