Arsenal legend Ian Wright was least impressed with Thomas Partey's performance in the Gunners' 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Ian Wright was particularly upset with Thomas Partey's failure to track one of the Brighton players in the lead-up to the equalizer.

Wright believes that had Partey followed the Brighton player, he could have cleared the rebound from David Raya's save.

“When you look at the play, you look at Thomas Partey. He’s literally run past him,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

Thomas Partey has to recognize in that instant he has to go all the way with Pedro and at least make a challenge. Pedro blasts past him and he’s just kind of jogging back.

“Those are the things that when you look back at that you will say, well, that could have been avoided.”

Arsenal's winning start to the 2024/2025 Premier League season came to an end following the draw with Brighton on Saturday. German forward, Kai Havertz gave Arsenal the lead in the first half with a good lob over the Brighton goalie.

An early red card to Declan Rice in the second half changed the dynamics of the game, with Arsenal having to defend for a chunk of the second half.

Brighton, however, got their goal through winger Joao Pedro.
