Head of Civil Service meet Chief Directors, Heads of Departments

Accra June 24, GNA - Dr Alex Glover-Quartey, Head of the Civil Service, on Thursday called on Chief Directors and Heads of Departments to make inputs for the improvement and proper salary adjustment in the service within two weeks.

He gave the directive at a meeting in Accra to discuss issues affecting the service as part of the Civil Service Week. Some of the issues raised by Dr Glover-Quartey included punctuality, the environment and salary adjustment.

He said, "If we don't tackle the problems of the Civil Service and find solutions to them, this country can not move forward. I want to see a real change in the way people see the Civil Service".

He called for efforts to ensure the success of programmes to reform the sector saying, "the civil service must be transformed".

The Head of the Civil Service expressed regret about the environment and surroundings of most offices saying, "they are nothing to write home about,"

"Perhaps many of you walk straight into your office without looking around," he said and asked them to submit their inputs to help address the problems by July 15 this year.
