Headmaster asked colleagues to collaborate with accountants

Asankrangwa (W/R) Aug. 20, GNA- Mr Josephus L. Bagbin, Headmaster of the Asankrangwa Secondary School, on Wednesday advised his colleagues to work closely with accountants to promote financial discipline in schools.

He cautioned accountants against allowing teachers to collect school fees on their behalf, and asked them to issued correct receipts for payments made by parents and students to ensure transparency and accountability.

Mr Bagbin was speaking a day's conference of the Western Regional branch of the Association of Accountants of Educational Institutions at Asankrangwa.

The meeting, which was attended by 60 delegates from the region, was aimed at educating the accountants on the new procurement act and other legislative instruments relating to their work. Mr William N. Armah, chairman of the association, said the conference which was the first of its kind to be organised in the region, would be held periodically to improve the skills and competence of members.

He urged them to work within laid-down financial procedures to avoid flouting laws that could criminalize their operations.
