Heads of State and Gov't arrive for Summit

Accra, Jan. 18, GNA - Six Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State and Government arrived in Accra on Tuesday to attend the 28th Ordinary Summit of ECOWAS on Wednesday, January 19.

The first to arrive was President Yahaya A.J. Jammeh of The Gambia followed by President Henrique Pereira Rosa of Guinea-Bissau and the African Union (AU) Chairman, President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria.

The others were President Mathieu Kerekou of Benin, President Mamadou Tandja of Niger and President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal.

Other representatives, who had arrived, were Mr Solomon Berewa, Vice President of Sierra Leone; Mr Kofi Sama, Prime Minister of Togo and Mr Charles Gyude Bryant, Chairman of the Interim Government of Liberia. Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama was at the Kotoka International Airport to receive them.

A detachment of the Ghana Air Force, made up three officer 96 men led by Squadron Leader Ishmael Tetteh Djagmah, played the ECOWAS Anthem.
