Wassa-Akropong (W/R), Nov. 9, GNA - The Headteacher of Trust Preparatory School at Wassa Saaman was on Wednesday taken to the Wassa-Akropong hospital when he drank "glamozole" a poisonous chemical in what was suspected to be a suicide bid.
Mr Obibah Nketiah, 38, however told the Ghana News Agency on his hospital bed that he woke up at dawn and mistakenly drank the chemical that he thought was the remaining of "akpeteshie" he drank the previous evening.
When he realised that he had taken in the "wrong stuff", he immediately called his only son in the house, Prince Peter Nketiah, 16, for help and soon went into comma.
Hospital sources said he would have died if his son had delayed in sending him to the hospital and also if the chemical had got into his stomach.
Mr Nketiah confirmed that he and his wife, Maame Kwaa, divorced only about a week ago over a misunderstanding but said that could not make him to commit suicide.
He explained that he and Maame Kwaa had been married for 11 years without an issue and this had been the cause of misunderstanding between them.
