Health facilities presented to New Juaben Municipal Assembly

Koforidua, May 17, GNA - The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South (Koforidua) constituency, Mr Yaw Barimah has on behalf of a German NGO, Children Helpwork for Africa, on Monday presented various hospital equipment worth several millions of cedis to the New Juaben Municipal Assembly for distribution to clinics and health centres in the municipality.

The equipment, which were received by Nana Adjei Boateng, New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, included 28 beds, 10 bedside lockers, 60 walking aids, four mattresses, iceboxes and exams chairs and trolleys and toilet seats.

Mr Barimah, who solicited for the items also bore the five million cedis cost of conveying them from the Tema port to Koforidua. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Barimah, who is also the Minister of Manpower Development and Employment, said the government's commitment to fight poverty would also ensure that the citizenry are in good health by expanding health facilities to all parts of the country.

Mr Barimah hoped that the donation would help to promote good health of the people in the municipality as well as improving good relationship between the municipality and the German NGO. Nana Adjei Boateng expressed gratitude to Mr Barimah for the donation, which, he said, demonstrated his concern and interest for the people of the municipality.

He gave the assurance that the equipment would be distributed evenly and put into good use to improve upon health delivery in the municipality.

Dr Benjamin Marfo, New Juaben Municipal Director of Health Services, thanked Mr Barimah for the leading role he played for the donation of the equipment.
