Health official advises food sellers

Sekondi, Jan. 7 GNA - An Environmental Health Officer of the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA) has advised food sellers against locating their business in unsanitary environment.

Mr. Michael Mensah, gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sekondi on Wednesday.

He said selling food in unsanitary conditions could lead to the spread of communicable diseases and thereby endangering public health. Mr. Mensah said the Environmental Health and Management Department of the Assembly has drawn up a programme to re-locate food sellers doing business in unsanitary environment.

He said those to be affected by the exercise are food sellers operating near places of convenience and refuse dumps. Mr. Mensah asked those selling food in unsanitary environment to start looking for a suitable sites.

He called on the public to assist the department to identify food sellers who are doing business in unsanitary conditions.
