The uncertainty over whether or not the Accra Sports Stadium will be closed for renovation works before the 2017/18 season starts is yet to be cleared as Hearts of Oak Board member, Frank Nelson says they are still waiting to hear from the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the matter.

The Accra Sports Stadium is home to the Phobians. Inter Allies also recently announced that, they will be using the national stadium for their matches. There are however reports that, the stadium will be shut down soon. That development will force clubs using it to look for alternatives.

But Hearts of Oak’s Board member says no one has communicated the closure to them. “We haven’t heard any official statement of such and no one has written to Hearts of Oak about it” said Frank Nelson in an interview with Kumasi based Ash FM.

“What I heard is, if they will close the stadium, it won’t be the entire stadium that will be closed. They will close it section by section. So, it will not affect the pitch side; maybe some section of the VIP or the Popular Stand or another side” he added.

“Nothing shows the entire stadium will be close” said Frank Nelson who also admitted that, the closure of the stadium will affect the club’s income at the gates. “It will affect our finances but we are not thinking about that now. We are sure the entire stadium will not be close so let’s wait and hear from the Ministry”.
