Roofing of two nurses’ quarters for the Regional Hospital in Sunyani have been ripped-off, by heavy rains in Sunyani.
The storm, which followed the rains caused extensive damages to properties and personal belongings of the health officials occupying the quarters.
Dr Emmanuel Kofi Amponsah, the Medical Director of the Regional Hospital described the situation as worrying, saying most of the affected nurses were currently perching with relatives and friends.
He was interacting with journalists in Sunyani on Wednesday, when former President John Dramani Mahama presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the hospital to stem the spread of the Coronavirus disease.
Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, a former envoy and the Bono Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presented the items comprising of 40 gowns and pieces of gown boots, 105 pieces of sanitizers, 100 boxes of treated bottled water, several nose masks and quantities of tissue papers.
While commending the NDC for the support, Dr Amponsah appealed to corporate and religious bodies, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), as well as philanthropic organizations and individuals to help re-roof the quarters for the nurses.
