The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) and Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Kofi Boakye, has asked Ghanaians to offer useful leads that can help apprehend criminals.
“The people [Ghanaians] should be bold and continue to provide useful leads to the police to track down criminals,” he stated.
Speaking at a press soiree at the Regional Police Headquarters, DCOP Boakye noted that significant progress has been made in reducing crime in the region, adding that the feat was chalked as a result of the strong collaboration and cooperation of Ghanaians.
He expressed the hope that Ghanaians will continue to play their respective roles to promote law and order.
DCOP Boakye also used the occasion to counsel the officers and men of the regional police command to refrain from activities that will tarnish the image of the Police Service.
He urged them to uphold a high level of professionalism, saying their integrity will help win public trust and confidence.
DCOP Boakye urged journalists to be circumspect in their reportage and avoid writing stories without cross checking.
He advised the media to always ensure that their stories are factual, accurate and balanced.
The Regional Commander recognised the enormous co-operation with press and said they were eager to build on the partnership.
He said measures would be taken to ensure a more effective, fruitful and enduring collaboration between the Police Service and the media, to promote discipline and sanity in the society
