The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has acknowledged being under significant pressure — not from political circles, but from the Ghanaian public.

During a press conference on March 24, 2025, a journalist asked the AG if he felt compelled to prosecute officials from the previous administration accused of embezzling or misusing state resources.

In response, Dr Ayine admitted that the pressure he faces stems from ordinary citizens demanding accountability for the mismanagement of public funds.

He stated that the current government, before taking office, assured Ghanaians that accountability would be a cornerstone of their administration.

He emphasised that delivering on this promise is not just an obligation but a crucial step in restoring public trust.

“On the first issue of whether I am under pressure to go to court, you would understand that the issue of accountability — and ORAL, that is ‘Operation Recover All Loot,’ was a central plank of His Excellency's campaign.

"In fact, the National Democratic Congress campaigned heavily on the issue of accountability. Ghanaians bought into that campaign and the other issues we addressed, which is why they voted for us to hold those who have abused public office accountable," he added.

He also stated “So, yes, I am under pressure. I am under pressure not from political quarters but from ordinary Ghanaians.”
