In a continuous effort to ensure unity and development in the Adentan Municipality in the Greater Accra Region, the High Council of Adentan Municipal Zongo and Tribal Chiefs paid a courtesy call on the Grand Mufti of Adentan Municipal, Dr. Tamim Abdul Wahab Abdul Kareem, on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Speaking at his residence in Ashaley Botwe, Accra, the Chairman of the High Council of Adentan Municipal Zongo and Tribal Chiefs, Chief Muhammad Sani Nacambo, stated that the visit was to officially introduce the Adentan Municipal Chief Imam, Sheikh Mohammed Abubakar Mutawakil, to the Grand Mufti to promote Islam and seek the progress of Adentan Municipality.
Chief Nacambo stated that the Grand Mufti is a blessing to Adentan Municipal and beyond, given the great strides he has made in teaching many people the Quran and ensuring unity among the people of Adentan Municipality.
He compared the peace-loving and humble character of the Adentan Mufti to that of the National Chief Imam, stating that the Mufti's nature is much comparable to the Chief Imam, for which the people of Adentan must be proud of having such a cleric.
According to him, the peaceful, kind, humble, honest, selfless, and tolerant character of the Mufti has gained him the respect of everyone across the various religious faiths in Adentan Municipal.
Chief Nacambo urged the Adentan Municipal Chief Imam, Sheikh Mohammed Abubakar Mutawakil, to collaborate with the Mufti and the Ashaley Botwe Youth Association to establish the Ashaley Botwe Council of Ulama.
He said this move will bring all tribal Imams under one umbrella to enhance togetherness and unity in discharging their duties as Imams.
On his part, Sheikh Mohammed Abubakar Mutawakil, the Municipal Chief Imam, reiterated that the appointment of Dr. Tamim Abdul Wahab Abdul Kareem as Municipal Mufti is a great thing that has happened to the people of Adentan Municipal.
He said the Mufti is a father to all who has taught many, including him, adding that he obtained his first master's degree in Islamic literature through the Mufti.
The Adentan Municipal Mufti, in his remarks immediately after reaffirming his support for Sheikh Mohammed Abubakar Mutawakil as the Adentan Municipal Chief Imam, commended the High Council of Adentan Municipal Zongo and Tribal Chiefs for their sterling leadership qualities in the Municipality.
He called for unity among the Chiefs to foster progress and development for not only the community but the religion as a whole.
He urged them not to discriminate against other people but rather bring all tribes and other religious faiths together to ensure the promotion of religious tolerance and togetherness in the Adentan Municipality.
While expressing gratitude for the visit, the Mufti prayed for the High Council for Allah's protection and guidance and urged them to continue to be more united than ever.
He commended the Adentan Municipal Chief Imam for his efforts in promoting the community and Islam at large and reminded him that leadership is a huge task and must be handled with a good heart.
In a related development, the High Council of Adentan Municipal Zongo and Tribal Chiefs paid a call on the Imam of the Tijaniya sect, Sheikh Imam Ali, at his residence in Ashaley Botwe as part of their move to unite the communities under their jurisdiction.
