A police officer has reportedly died while another was critically injured following a tragic accident in Kpandai, in the Northern Region of Ghana.
The incident occurred on Sunday, October 20, 2024, as reported by citinewsroom.com.
The report further indicates that the officers from the Formed Police Unit (FPU) were at a checkpoint and decided to find shelter at a nearby fuel station when it began to rain.
In an attempt to find shelter, they noticed two men on a motorbike and attempted to stop them, but the men did not oblige.
This resulted in a chase by the police officers on a motorbike, which led to a collision with a pedestrian.
The officer riding as a passenger was thrown off the bike and hit his head on the ground. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the Kpandai Hospital.
The riding officer sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Kpandai District Hospital.
The two men who were being chased by the police officers also got involved in an accident. One of them sustained serious injuries, while the other has been apprehended and is in police custody.
