One person has been confirmed dead and another injured after they were run over by a speeding vehicle that failed to stop in Konongo, in the Ashanti Region.

According to the police, 19-year-old Ernest Kakari was riding a Hoajin motorbike, registration M-22-AS 619, with pillion rider Awudu Adam, aged 35 years, also known as Redoo (now deceased), from Beposo towards Konongo.

Upon reaching a section of the road at Alafia near Konongo-Odumase along the Konongo-Kumasi highway, a vehicle following them suddenly knocked them down. The vehicle failed to stop and sped off. The pillion rider, Awudu Adam, died on the spot.

The body of the deceased has been conveyed to the Stewards Hospital morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy, while the injured rider, Ernest Kakari, is on admission at the same hospital receiving treatment.
