Keta, June 2, GNA - The Ho Alpha Lions Club, an international service organisation, based in Ho, the Volta Regional capital, had donated baby clothes valued at 2 million cedis to newly born quadruplets at the Keta Government Hospital at the weekend. The items which included baby dresses, bedclothes, underwear's, socks and baby sweaters were presented by Lion Dr Atsu Seake-Kwawu, the current President of the Club on behalf of the club's executives and members.
Dr Seake-Kwawu, who is also the Keta District Director of Health Services disclosed that the Club was made up of public spirited persons coming together to raise funds and other resources to support the underprivileged in society.
He said so far, the Club has extended assistance in various forms to the physically challenged persons such as the blind, the lame, orphans and others who genuinely needed support.
Dr Seake-Kwawu said that the club is totally concerned with improving the lives of distressed persons and helping to reduce their suffering and called on all well meaning individuals to consider becoming a Lion.
Receiving the item, Dr Felix K. Tsidi, the Medical Superintendent in-charge of the Keta Hospital thanked the Ho Lions Club for its kind gesture and urged other benevolent societies, churches, NGOs and individuals to come to the aid of the quadruplets.
The Nursing Officer in-charge of the maternity unit, Madam Rose Kpongbosu said this was the first time in the District that a woman has delivered a set of four babies.
She said the babies weighing 1.6, 1.9, 1.7 and 1.6 kilograms at birth were healthy and strong but needed supplementary baby food and special care to grow well and therefore appealed to the public for their support.
