Ho Assembly approves President's nominee

Ho, June 15, GNA - With 88.2 percent of 51 votes, Mr Mawutor Goh, incumbent Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ho, was on Wednesday re-endorsed by the Assembly.

The election, supervised by Mr Muhammed Adoquaye, Volta Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, saw NPP sympathizers jubilating over the result, saying, " Goh must stay", "Goh for chapter two". Mr Kofi Opoku-Edusei, Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, who witnessed the vote, said it was heart warming that the Assembly accepted the President's nominee in good faith to enhance the development of the municipality.

He however, called on the assembly members to work with Mr Goh as a team.

Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, said the overwhelming margins of approval so far obtained by nominees for Ketu, Keta and Akatsi and Ho, signified that the President gave the Region competent persons with whom the people were pleased. He called on Mr Goh not to forget the people when the time comes for the disbursement of the common fund. "The people you met while climbing, will be the same people you will meet when descending," he added. Mr Goh expressed appreciation to the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to reciprocate the gesture through hard work to raise the image of the municipality. He promised to be very open to new ideas towards the progress of the municipality so that expectations for the next four years would be a reality. Meanwhile, Mr Edward Glalah, Mr Edward Kukah and Madam Esther Dzide, have been sworn into the assembly as new government appointees.
