Ho Central MP supports BECE candidates

Mr Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament for Ho has presented 3,000 mathematical sets to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Municipality.

A total of 97 Junior High Schools (JHSs) with1, 50.7 female and 1,431 male candidates would benefit from the donation, which is the third by the MP.

Mr Kpodo said the support was to motivate the candidates to perform well at the examination and make their parents and the Municipality proud.

"All my efforts, organising mock examinations for candidates, expanding the read 100 library projects by Joy FM with desktop computers and paying school fees are to improve education and you must make good use of these and make us proud," he said.

The MP said he was not happy about the dip in BECE results in the Municipality from 78 per cent in 2016 to around 67 percent in 2017/2018 and charged the candidates to give Ho a 100 per cent pass in the 2019 BECE.

Mr Joseph Amesimeku, Ho Municipal Director, Ghana Education Service acknowledged the continued support of Mr Kpodo to education and assured that all candidates in the Municipality would receive the mathematical sets.

He also urged the candidates to work hard and make the Municipality proud.

Roberta Agbemavor, one of the beneficiaries told Ghana News Agency that her mother was struggling to get items needed for the examination for her and two other siblings and described the donation by the MP as a "miracle" to her family.
