Ho, April 1, GNA - Ho-Dome Circuit of the Ghana Education Service on Tuesday scored 98 points, to emerge the winner of the first Ho Municipal Education Mathematics and Science Quiz competition. Avatime "B" Circuit came second with 78 points. The two circuits were the finalists out of a field of 22 circuits in the Municipality.
Each contestant from both circuits received a certificate, mathematics and science books and GH¢105.00 cash as their personal rewards.
Setting the tone for commencement of the competition, Mr Emmanuel Keteku, Ho Municipal Education Director said the initiative was to help raise the standard of education in especially mathematics and science in the Municipality.
He urged teachers in the Municipality to organize similar competitions for students at sectional and class levels, to help improve education in the area. Mr Dickson Pi-Bansah, Public Relations Officer of the Directorate said the Directorate is considering the introduction of similar competitions in Senior High Schools and Junior High Schools in the municipal area every year. Mr Emmanuel Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho-West provided financial support towards organizing the competition with a promise of continuous support to such initiatives. 1 April 09
